I didn’t know this either, but apparently I’m a social experiment.

To back up a little, I went out yesterday to Heren van Amstel. One of the people there thought I wasn’t actually blind, but part of a social experiment. I have no idea how or why. Honestly, I only overheard him in passing, and it was way too busy and loud to find him and have a proper conversation. But he was shocked when he realized I was actually blind and had initially assumed it was all some kind of social experiment.
To be fair, I sometimes feel that way myself. It’s always a guessing game how people will react to you. I don’t even have to do or say anything—I just have to exist and be in the space, and somehow the most random things happen.
I also had my AirPods in to help reduce the noise, and some drunk guy thought I was listening to music and tried to press on my AirPods to skip to the next song or something…
But I think the social-experiment guy was the weirdest—and also the funniest. He was right, just in a very ironic way.
